Thanks It's one of my favorites, but a popular coin with most others as well, to answer your question there is a lot of the stater and they are in most current auctions. I suggest you do a CNG search Thasos nymph to check current pricing before you bid, as far as Roman type goes as far as I know Tiberius produced a series of Teressa (about 22-23mm flan) that were termed "fantasy scenes'' you can see them in CNG by typing the word erotic.

I just happened to see this collection of Tiberius fantasy scenes and I thought of you and this comment, so here is a set in fantastic condition for you to look at. 15178161_1296876787016224_6128240974271192748_n.jpg

Exactly the same for me. Collected Moderns in my younger years, but did not have a half-dime. Visited my daughter and grandkids at Ft Campbell where my son-in-law was stationed a few years ago. My daughter and I were off-base at a coin shop. I got a half-dime for her, and one for me. Just becuz...

I had one that fits the criteria but I gave it away. I'm sure you all will see it around Christmas time ;). Have another I'll post later today

Carausius Brother, can you spare a sestertius?

This Larissa drachm attracted my eye at a coin show about 8 years ago, and it became my first ancient Greek coin purchase. I only collected Roman to that point. Since then, when the mood and coin strike me, I have purchased more Greek coins, almost entirely from mainland Greece. It was my Greek heritage that spawned my interest in ancient history and coins, so it's surprising that I've never become entirely consumed by Greek coins.

Don't have a picture of the coin, but I found its twin sister for your viewing pleasure. 1859 half-dime in a PCGS 64-PF slab. tiny and gorgeous. found it at an estate sale. maybe 5 coins in the display box. Caught my eye! Plunked down 6 Franklins. Smile. 1859 hd.gif

Why did a Maharadja (Hindu) put a christian cross and JHS on his coins ?
not clear, some believe he did it to please Queen Victoria (Empress of India)
