I don't know whether it's a new variety or a deteriorated die, but my largely untutored mind is tending towards new variety. Here's what make me think so: 1) The "U" in "In God We Trust" definitely looks upshifted, and other letters look like it, a little less so. 2) "Liberty" is FAT, with very thick verticals. The "B" looks positively pregnant. There are good signs of doubling, BUT... 1) There's a die chip under the "L" 2) There's a dot of extra metal near Lincoln's face. Which points to deterioration. Yes, I know the pictures are poor, and no the color isn't accurate. It's a shiny new penny, in about AU-50 shape. Should you think that this is worth CONECA looking at, please provide me with a link on how to submit it. I've looked and found several links, all seemingly contradictory. As always, my gratitude in advance for whatever help is offered.
