I apologize. I'm just eager to validate some of these coins that I've found overt the years so I can possibly sell something
Here I am with Fred Weinberg He is the Mint Error expert.. I just consider myself a humble specialist
Wow! I think I'll not question your expertise any more (cept for this once). Question. Why did you slab them? Incredibly awesome looking hoard you have there by the way.
The chances of you finding a new variety on an older dated coin are next to zero, yet you think you have found several. See the problem? The quarter you posted is md. Flat and shelflike and takes away from the design.
I also have many amazing raw mint errors. The ones I get attributed is to keep them safe. And.. Why not? And remember.. Many mint errors are sold already slabbed. The majority I have purchased at coin shows, coin shops, ebay and the Great Collections website.
Yes to error verification. Value also but that really has not been my main concern. I just enjoy collecting and educating others.
You "slab" them to get them encased in plastic from one of the Third Party Graders. They charge for their grading, attribution, etc but you can guarantee (to a point) that they are correct. It's one of those sayings ... put your money where your mouth is ... in regards to what one believes is true and what is true. There have been posters where the TPG proved something that the CT members were wrong. But most of the time the TPG sends stuff back in body bags or a worthless slab. Back to your 1982 D Large Date LMC. I thought the mint mark looked a bit strange so I checked for RPM's. Compare your coin to this: http://doubleddie.com/144822.html I'm not saying it's what you have but you can research it. Also, I think in the future you should start a new thread when you post another coin or anything not related to your original post. Just giving my advice, not telling you what to do. You can also compare your coin to WRPM-002 or WRPM-003 shown here:http://doubleddie.com/1141529.html
Here's a good site for you to start learning about mint error coins: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mint-made_errors
I just dont get it. There are references and a number of web sites that explain in great detail as to how mint errors occur. Yet some people refuse to listen to experts and specialist who have studied for years and know what they are talking about. Dude, listen to the experts. They know what they are talking about. What you have is worth one cent. Thats all. No more than that. Its not a class 3 doubled die, or any other doubled die.
That's because it's easier to believe what you have convinced yourself what is believeable, irregardless of your knowledge and experience and what everyone else may say. At some point it's just best to send it in to a TPG. Then they can complain that the TPG is wrong.
