I got a 2011 D Nickel today that looks to be messed up from the mint on the face side. On the edge reading "In God We Trust" The rim is smeared (best way I can describe it) and keeps the same depth as the rest of the rim, so its not like something smashed it. The face rim is also considerably thinner in thickness then the back side of the coin, leading me to believe this might be a mint mistake, considering how new the coin is as well since it hasn't been around for decades. The smearing feels flat, but I don't have a thickness measuring device. maybe a quarter millimeter in difference at most. Even though it appears "wavy" in light refraction. The smear is also roughly the same height as the text on the coin so the rim and text bleed together. I could really use some help here in determining what I have. Thanks for the help mates!
