They said for $850 they should get all the proofs, and I was saying that they were unrealistic to expect a complete set of franklins down to all the proofs too for a mere $850, when the first 2 proofs alone will set you back that much. I then went on to ask what they expected to realistically pay for an AU/BU or even just a decent set of franklins.

I then asked what they would sell theirs for and I was making the comparison that melt alone was around $400 (what I actually paid for my BU set this past year) and that again it was unrealistic to think that at least a nice shiny (you can see that much from the pics) set of franklins shouldn't fetch a nominal price of that more than melt value. I mean at the very least the person who has the set could've assembled it and that takes a little time, and that's kind of the purpose of buying complete sets, so you don't have to do all the work. So anyway my point is - and this is directed at BUuncirculated - what is your realistic value on a set of franklins? Including all the proofs?

Back to the OPs question, my advice was to build his own set. They are cheap (if youre considering spending $800+ on a set you can assemble most of it yourself on that) and easy and you get what you really want that way.

I apologize if you thought I was attacking you or anything. And yes right now a fair value on a BU set of Frankie's would fetch around $650 or so. Likely without any proofs tho and he has probably 5 if there's 38 coins (33 for the business strikes) so I can see $750-$800, even asking $850 for the inevitable haggling.

Just my thoughts on the matter[/QUOTE]
