And do you see these coins in this set? I don't and only see 1962 and 1963 (labeled) for sure, so what is your point?

Melt is just a tad over $340 on 33. In my last post I quoted approximately what bid is on a generic BU set, so that or ask, which I believe is $640-$650 give/take (I do not have a the recent weekly with me) would be a good starting point IF all are up to par. If you want to take the supposed “all coins are uncirculated” down into AU, depending on the date, some coins very well may be melt material. This is a CL ad with useless photos, so I see no reason to give the benefit of the doubt and assume the coins are something special.

Regardless, if the OP is interested, the best thing he can do is to look at the coins in-person. If he can properly grade and valuate the coins, he then should be able to place a fair and realistic price on the lot. If he cannot do this, he probably should reconsider the whole idea (no offense, of course).

I was replying to BUuncirculated so what I wrote might read differently if you read it from that angle. They said for $850 they should get all the proofs, and I was saying that they were unrealistic to expect a complete set of franklins down to all the proofs too for a mere $850, when the first 2 proofs alone will set you back that much. I then went on to ask what they expected to realistically pay for an AU/BU or even just a decent set of franklins.

I then asked what they would sell theirs for and I was making the comparison that melt alone was around $400 (what I actually paid for my BU set this past year) and that again it was unrealistic to think that at least a nice shiny (you can see that much from the pics) set of franklins shouldn't fetch a nominal price of that more than melt value. I mean at the very least the person who has the set could've assembled it and that takes a little time, and that's kind of the purpose of buying complete sets, so you don't have to do all the work. So anyway my point is - and this is directed at BUuncirculated - what is your realistic value on a set of franklins? Including all the proofs?

Back to the OPs question, my advice was to build his own set. They are cheap (if youre considering spending $800+ on a set you can assemble most of it yourself on that) and easy and you get what you really want that way.

I apologize if you thought I was attacking you or anything. And yes right now a fair value on a BU set of Frankie's would fetch around $650 or so. Likely without any proofs tho and he has probably 5 if there's 38 coins (33 for the business strikes) so I can see $750-$800, even asking $850 for the inevitable haggling.

Just my thoughts on the matter

As Books stated, and I concur, there don't appear to be any of the first 4 proofs of the series, at least nothing in any of the OP's photos.

The latter year proofs, 56-63, can be had for around $26-$35 each.

In so far as your inquiry about what I would try and sell my sets for, I'm not in the business of buying and selling coins. My coins are purchased for collecting, not quick flipping, so I wouldn't try and sell them for anything.

I stand by my original statement.

This is your original statement from the first page ^ I highlighted the part of relevance. So your original statement says that you should get all business issued Franklins plus ALL the proofs and walk away for $850, to which i replied as that statement and price figure being unreasonable when the first couple of proofs are worth more than that.

I also concurred with Books, that $650 would be reasonable for a set of AU/BU franklins, which consists of 33 coins, now the ad says 38 so thats another 5 coins which even at melt are worth another $60 bucks, but collector value would put them in the $100 range i would suppose. so on any kind of book value we are $650 + 5 more coins (likely proofs), so again I ask, why is $850 not reasonable?

You have a completed set, plus extras, plus the time putting it together and the album itself, so I think $850 is a decent price to start your negotiations at. The seller probably knows its craigslist and will get low ball offers, and just needs a starting point of some sort, but to say its out of whack is just being ignorant of the coins and the series.

But I am not trying to argue with you or what you do with your coins, thats on you. Maybe you meant something different in your original statement, i dont know, all i know is what I see written, and saying you should get ALL of the proof franklins plus the set for $850 is just highly inaccurate and not sound advice for the OP.

Hey, Augusta is only 45 mins North from me. But I really don't care for the city, and I don't have any more money this month (year?) to spend on coins. Not worth the trip in IMHO...
