Possible Error Cent??? 1951-D filled in

Hey while roll searching I came across a 1951-D cent and upon further inspection saw that the D mint mark was totally filled in. It looks like a solid raised dot instead of a D. The middle is not hollow like a regular D should be, it looks more like a half circle. It still looks like a quality mint mark though, not like it was somehow damaged post mint. It just looks like the mint stuck it with a die that had the D filled in solid. I also found another cent (can't remember the year off the top of my head) that also had the filled in D, however it was not as prominent as this one.

Anyone have any ideas what it is or if it is anything special?

I can try to scan some pics of it a little later if you want, just let me know.

  3. We'd have to see pictures to know what it is. It sounds like a die chip, but we can't be certain unless we see it ourselves.
