This is on a 1964 proof Kennedy half dollar. The B on liberty is unusual can anybody please identify if this is machine doubling or a double die???

It appears from the limited amount/view to be machine doubling. I can see a much smaller amount on the hair. MD tends to become more separated as it moves to the edge and on a half dollar , it would be more obvious than on a cent. IMO, Jim

I saw in your tags that you had doubled die and double struck.. I just want to make sure that you know one issue has nothing to do with the other.
A Doubled die variety is one strike with a doubled die and not a double strike.

You didn't show photos of the entire coin but from what you did show I would question it being a proof. The surface looks dull instead of shiny, so to speak. Looks like MD to me and that is NAV or no added value doubling.
