Possible Dime and Quarter Errors

    I understand perfectly what you are saying, but this is kind of like penny vs cent. The coin has the appearance of having a clipped section missing, call it what you want, but I think the name clipped planchet will persist.

    One final thing, just took a quick look on e-bay under "clipped coins" and see slabbed examples from all TPG's that call them clipped.

    I don't wish to argue with anyone but Error-ref calls them clipped planchets. :)

    And understandably so, it became the catch-all phrase so all the types can be grouped under one heading in many publications and sites. However, traditionalists still prefer to use the more technically correct descriptions.
    Each to their own, at the end of the day the world would be a pretty boring place if we were all the same
