Is it growing? I am sorry, but magnification is not the issue here, Rick. Go back and look at the photos you posted in #9. This alone, and even if we ignore everything else, is more than enough to prove this is not the variety you're hoping for. Supposed equipment or lighting “issues” cannot take away from or add to what simply, and clearly is not there.
1 thing cointalk has teaches a lot of assets2cointalk. photo can be different as not all are done @ site noted operator.Read-> who did Photo. http://coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=1946&die_id=1946d1mm010&die_state=lds
Very nice, Angelo! I will not dispute the fact that photos/images can have an effect on the subject's appearance, but the OP's insistence that his equipment "issues" is the reason the coins do not appear to be of the same variety is simply not the case.
Coppercoins' website contains an image of 1951-D 1DO-001 with mintmark and date. Comparing that with the OP's image will show that although the mintmarks of both coins are in the same approximate location the orientaion (rotation/tilt) are significantly different. Anyway - I don't think any attributor (Wexler, CONECA, COPPERCOINS) list a Doubled Die Obverse variety for 1951-D which also contains an RPM. And Wexler lists over 75 RPMs for this date.
