Im fairly new to coin collecting, my father was really into error coins so I'm always looking out for them. To the point, i found this 1988 Roosevelt dime while roll hunting. It looks like it was struck off center. On the obverse side it has a thick left side rim, on the reverse rim its normal. Thoughts?
These coins are pretty much a dime a dozen, despite them looking kind of cool... Technically, they are indeed struck off center on one side, but the proper name for them is a "misaligned die error" or MAD for short.
Interesting find. Could I burden you to give me a quick rundown on what makes this error and year special?
