Found a 1964 p nickel that looks unlike any other nickel I’ve seen. It has a grayish almost satin look to it.it appears on the reverse that someone had tried cleaning it. But Just wanted to get some thoughts and opinions. Thanks 800E691C-3A97-4923-9BFF-4CD6560131FA.png 07C0B9F9-8CA3-439A-BD4B-AF40D4996C2C.png

It's I'm afraid it's not an SMS nickel. Circulated 1964. Value 5 cents.

    Agreed not an sms....
Those 1964 dies hammered out a heck of a mintage.
So many 64's that youre extremely lucky to find one with any steps.
I had bags of 64's that the Monticello was completely void of the porch as well steps.

Here is a few pictures that show it compared to the one I found with it. It shows the darkish gray color a little more clear. Both seem to be cleaned, it appears grayish finish on the reverse has been rubbed off. I’ve found no other nickels that come close to the color of this one in question. 3EF3E6FC-18B2-430D-AD4D-CAC00B7740C0.jpeg 8685D415-3C32-4EB0-B797-11B6A7C39E80.jpeg E6B0B03F-83F0-4F1E-B7B6-E593DAF5F2E7.jpeg

The environment can turn a 5 cent piece all sorts of colors. Yours just has some sort of toning.
It’s a regular circulates nickel. Only worth 5 cents.

Please don't hold your coins that way, only on the edges. Fingerprints/oils can permanently ruin a coin.
