Going through my change and I think I have a 43 copper penny. I would like to know what the experts think. Thank you in advance. P_20170720_155602_1.jpg P_20170720_155619_1.jpg

I can not tell the date from the picture but if its attracted by a magnet, then it is a steel regular issue of cent.

    It's not a 1943 Copper Cent.

It looks like a badly corroded
    1943 Steel Cent.

As asked above, see if it's magnetic.

Your right I just put a magnet to it. It is a 43 but unfortunately a rusty steel one. Oh well I'll keep looking

Definitely corroded. I does look like steel, but a magnet should tell the truth. I had a 43 that someone put mercury on and screwed it up. I don't know what happened to it. Someone was in my house for a while and I don't know what happened to it. Regardless, you save what you think is great, but hide it.

You should not overuse the smilies... especially when most of them have nothing to do with the coin in question

The chance of finding a 1943 bronze cent is less than getting hit by lightening!
BTW, at the cost of being repetitive, this is a Penny.

if a steel penny is still found in circulation then it is most likely going to look like that. I have BU ones that still have some black dots on them, they are not easy to keep for a long time unless in a slab.

The 1943 cent has been good for the hobby. Folks find one and start looking for information about the coin. I hope a few of them become new collectors. Wish we had a few more coins like this to draw others into the hobby.

Back in the '50's my father had a couple of coffee cans full of them.

Next year is the 75th anniversary of the steel cent, Maybe they'll bring it back, or is that just wishful thinking lol
