Pop Out Morgan Dollar - Authentic or not?

    Whoa. I'm honestly surprised how many were fooled here. Even with the lousy pics, it looked ... genuinely fake.

    And I just can't imagine why someone would manufacture that for $250 per "coin" ;)

    Hello.

    The coin is definitely cast. If you looked closely at the reeds, you can see that there is a line going through them and it was concaved. Plus, you can you see pitting that's only made from casting, especially by the stars and the date.

    The clear giveaway that it's not silver and not a genuine Morgan dollar, is the color. You can tell that it's a pot-metal coin. I think it was a waste of time getting it checked, but that's a different story altogether.

    The reverse came out pretty good. So far on eBay, the last two that I can recall of this type with the face looking towards the left, were both fakes. But it's still a nice addition.
