With all due respect, Pumpkin, I believe this to be an exercise in futility. If you think there to be something special and/or unique about the coin, this may have been better served by starting a thread to point this out instead of using a poll. That said and taking the rather poor image into consideration, nothing that I can see says proof IMO. The rims, even if lightly circulated, are not reminiscent of a proof strike, nor is the weakness exhibited on other areas. I am also hesitant to say SMS for the same reasons. If anything, I have a feeling that you believe this coin to be a PL business strike, which would also explain why you chose to image the coin at this angle. Of course this is just a guess going on what little you have provided. BTW, you could have shown the obverse and simply blacked-out the area around the date.
This is true and SMS coins were minted with Business Strike dies and in fact are Business Strike coins per the mint at that time as they were trying to curtail collecting by not making proofs. The Collectors were causing shortages of coins per the mint.
