Oh, I dunno. I quite like the color and eye appeal on that first M-HB. The other ain't shabby, either.

  4. Now, this is my type of match.
@ancientcoinguru The Perrhaiboi trihemiobol isn't something you see every day. Interesting that they appear to have more in common, ethnically, with the Thessalonians; but seem to have taken their Celator queues from their neighbors to the north; The Macedonians or Thraco-Macedonian tribes. Without seeing the info on your coin, (which I wasn't familiar with the type) I would assume it to be an archaic fraction from Macedon. I like the mood that goes with Athena examining her helmet.

Theory: I know the Greeks continually fought with each other after the Greco-Persian wars, but I don't know in which occupations or at which times the Thessalonians were involved. Could the reverse, with Athena examining the helmet and in a non commanding position represent a time of peace?

@Theodosius That is one of the cleanest obverse portraits I've seen on a Campania didrachm. Naturally smooth fields and even tone makes it look like it's nearly machined. The closest ancient I've seen in resemblance to Lady Liberty on the Morgan dollar. Style points for the music note disguised as a ladle.

    Results
    #4 @ancientcoinguru - 118 Winner
    #29 @Theodosius - 78

Theodosius came out on top in the eye appeal category with his beautiful entry but ancientcoinguru took the bargain and interest categories to come out on top. Congratulations and thank you to both our players.

@ancientcoinguru will advance to play the winner of the @frankjg vs @Nicholas Molinari match.

I cast 2 votes for the Perrhaiboi coin and 1 for the Neapolis, but gosh, @Theodosius, it really is an awesome coin. Congrats, @ancientcoinguru, and nice job, both of you!
