But they won't make them the original size - that's already been determined. The dime isn't, and the quarter and the half won't be.

Is the gold dime going to be larger or smaller then a real dime?

Smaller, by some 8% in diameter. Now admittedly, some people claim that's not significant. However, research shows that only about 1-1/2% is required to create a visually obvious difference.

Interestingly, the difference, 8%, is the same difference between a quarter and the small dollar or SBA. Remember, we're talking side-by-side obviousness.

Because gold is heavier than lead. :) Its really interesting if you ever get a chance to pick up a large gold bar. Feels like a block of lead.

Despite some of the talk of needing a microscope to see the coin, there was an article that said these will be the same diameter as a 1/10tho AGE, just slightly thinner since they're 24k pure while the AGEs are 22k. Having owned 1/10th ozers I can say I didn't need a microscope to see them and they are roughly dime sized. :)

16.5 mm as opposed to 17.9 mm......pretty close. I concede your point Vess. I don't need a microscope, just my glasses....... devil.gif

Smells like another misstep by the Mint to me.

That's their interpretation of split bands? Ugh. At least they aren't laser frosting these. That travesty should never be anywhere near the classical goodness of these timeless designs.

Still undecided. Buy these, or buy more originals? I'll likely hold off. If they sell out fast and I'm on the outside looking in, I'll be fine. Life moves on.

If they don't sell out, I'll revisit the possibility if I have the cash.
