Poll: 1942d Merc Dime Double Profile

I have coin and a question, this is my newly acquired Pcgs gem fb merc dime with what appears to be doubling/tripling seen on the obverse. I have my theories, but would love to hear input from the community on this one.It looks like the Ngc attributed doubled profile Kennedy I seen a while back........ What do I have here????

This is common on Bust $1/2's, so don't buy the eBay kool-aid that it is a doubled die.

 

Sometimes if the coin isn't seated perfectly in the collar it will oscillate at high speeds and can cause doubling on one or both sides of the coin .

Well the way i see it, its way cool and reminds me of a hot lips morgan.

 

You were the one who told me about it , how'd you forget it .

 

The coin probably shifted slightly when being struck, in other words, Machine Doubling.

No one ever mentions "camera doubling" these days...


...you know, when the camera is handheld and the shake makes it look like doubling?

 

Its nice having access to all ya'll (old time) experts here. The guy who "Coined" the term oscillated doubling reminding the guy who "discovered" it in the same post!
