I believe the number is "72"which may indicate the date 1972 or possibly something else. Apparently, "Marty" is the man who stamped the slogans.</p><p><br /></p><p>The second note, stamped "IRA /1916" is also a Nationalist issue and is a remembrance of the bloody 1916 revolt against English rule over Ireland. It occurred during Easter week and is known as the Easter Uprising or the Easter Rising.</p><p><br /></p><p>Although there's nothing pretty about these notes or the slogans, they're important pieces of history.
