I have only one Polish coin in my collection. I picked it up in Germany in 1959. A 1934 5-Zloytch silver.
A little older than 1949 (note that the eagle on your coin has a crown) but that is a great design. Christian

That design left me clueless when I first saw it. Thought of pants and a zipper, hehe. Later I learned that it is cereal ears in front of a tall building. That coin was also minted in Kremnica. According to my catalog, the Warsaw mint made the 1976 pieces. I like that "ring" around the eagle ... Christian
Interesting that this coins shows two maps so to say. You see the Gdynia- Gdańsk Bay and the Hel peninsula on one side. And the somewhat strange way the country name and year are placed around the eagle, that was obviously inspired by the shape or map of Poland. Christian

I really like this coin design. Reminds me of the Latvian 5 Lati coin -But this design is much better. Awesome!

I have a few Polish coins of my own. My father's parents were born in Poland and migrated to New York. Among the documents I keep with my paper money is my grandfathers United States certificate of citizenship issued on February 26th, 1935 and my grandmother's Certificate Of Lawful Entry that shows that she arrived in New York on March 30, 1907 at the age of 22. My maternal grandmother was also born in Poland. My forum name is a play on my real last name that ends with "zycki". In 1976 I traveled with my parents to Warsaw and Kraków. I brought home quite a few coins from that trip. I think I actually purchased these from a shop at the hotel in Warsaw. I will take photos of some of the circulation coins and post them later.
