I know what you mean...I get that excited feeling in the pit of my stomach just wondering/hoping for some goodies in pocket change!
does anyone besides me pay with cash instead of credit card just to see what kind of coins they'll get for change?
Both are interesting. No limit on what folks find interesting. Enjoy it all!! If you make the change you’ll get some finds along the way. When I picked up the Buffalo a few weeks ago it had to be at a drive through. I usually dump the change on the floor by my floor mat without checking. It can go a couple days or weeks. Fun to be surprised even when you are looking at everything. I do it to catch coinage and to reduce my digital footprint. Perhaps win-win.
Follow up thought - I suspect I can generate about $60 of change a month. CRH enthusiasts can probably relate that if you were to get $720 worth of mixed rolls at your bank that you are bound to find some good stuff. Aside from these obvious finds I have a bunch of presorted change that I still need to go through. What will I find there? If history plays out I will find a number of minor doubled dies. Not very valuable, but fun finds. The reality is that pocket change comes from the same sources so expectations should be similar.
Yes. Finding S mint coins on the East Coast doesn't get old for me. I think there are RPMs for the date, so take a look.
Yes it was quite lucky since it was only 3 pounds of coins but in my opinion @CoinJockey73 is the real lucky one.
Speak of the devil... I'm thinking you've got some pretty cool stuff laying around with @Eric the Red being your dad! Especially if he's got W quarters just laying around in the change in his truck! I have to go through 2050 quarters (roughly) to find one, and he's got one just laying in his change?! Why i oughta...nyuk nyuk nyuk...
