Ok…helped organize my daughter’s room and found stashes of change everywhere. Here are the best I found -
Finds from the register: 2 bicentennial quarters, 1 (P) & 1 D 1944 wheat cent (kind of funny there were any pennies in the drawer, but they forgot to zero out the pennies) And had a fake-out... a River of No Return (Idaho) quarter with some gunk where the mintmark was... cleaned that part off, and sadly it was a D, not a W. But I'm still looking!
I got this 2000-D Maryland quarter in change this afternoon. Very deep, strong strike, and the reverse is positively prooflike. Kinda cool. I even took pictures of it, just for fun.
The quality and finish of the Denver business strikes are superior to the Philly strikes. They do look like a hybrid strike; proof like.
Bicentennial quarter and got another 2026-D Emerging Liberty dime from a customer. First time I saw the person spending it rather than it already be sitting in the drawer.
Finds today: 2 bicentennial quarters, and a 1952-D wheat cent Finding pennies at all kind of feels like it qualifies as a find now lol.
Still plenty were I'm at. Only started seeing stores rounding in the past two months or so. I toss all my change in a cup until I have time to go through it, one's on the top are from today.
Been working on trying to get all the different quarter designs from pocket change. Here's what I've got so far in state quarters.
Two nice upgrades for the Jefferson nickel album: A really nice 1949-D, at least AU, maybe even uncirculated; at any rate in great condition for a 77 year old coin and a lot better than what was already in the album. A nice 1976-D possibly AU or even uncirculated with a slight amount of yellowish/goldish toning on it. I'm not even big on toning, but this does look nice, and better than the one I already had in the album.
Found in register: 1976-D bicentennial quarter, 1952 Jefferson nickel, 2026-D Emerging Liberty dime. From vending machine change, got a 1979-D SBA dollar.
FINALLY! Found a 2025-D Althea Gibson quarter in the drawer today. Technically the second one I found, since about a week and a half ago I found a 2025-P doing coin roll hunting, but this is the first I found in circulation. Normally I don't bother saving both P&D of quarters since 1999, but making an exception for this one, since it took so long to find. Gives me hope of actually finding some 2026 quarters soon, hopefully!
Fun Finds: Went to 2 different stores this weekend. Got fun quarter finds from both in change when I checked my pockets. I received an impaired proof at the 1st store. At the 2nd store I scored silver and a Statehood quarter with die chips. I'm muchly statisfied. 1972 Impaired Proof Silver 1962 D 2008 Arizona. Die chip filling D of IGWT, Hornet’s nest die chip at top of cactus, portion of 9 on top date & top portion of 8 on issue date also filled w/die chips.
