Any opinions on the date of this coin? The 9 is missing. I'm leaning towards PMD due to the pits who've the date, but would like some more opinions
Surely feels suspicious as PMD, since there seems to be a sunken/pit area around the missing 9. A struck through grease should have a flat surface instead, like the one below in my collection. Just my thoughts.
Something tells me it has been heated up to make it seem to be a strike through. It looks a bit bubbly and smoothed out, which is what happens when you heat the metal enough for it to "boil". I don't really know what it could have been...
