Meow has found a quarter with a odd circular depression near the date. Meow wonders if it is PMD or grease. It does seem a little to nice to be PMD, as they are no gouges or displaced metal. Also a Saratoga quarter with neat die polish lines.
I'm not 100% positive, but I don't see any indication of "crater effect" (displaced metal) which would be indicative of a gouge caused in circulation. Chris
You think some one messed with it, like stamping it with something? Odd that it lines ups with the date perfectly.
The reference is to the incredible forger Omega. No one knows who he/she is. https://www.money.org/collector/user_8029/blog/the-omega-man-counterfeiter
I’m also not seeing displaced metal, but it may have worn down in circulation. Can you supply photos of the whole coin, both sides? And maybe we can lure @Fred Weinberg in here for an opinion.
I'm no expert, but I think it is a strike through. I've found multiple examples of strike throughs including thread, foreign object, and rim burr. The LMC is in my opinion. Not sure what to think of the quarter though, it could be.
That also looks like a STFO. The lack of any raised metal at/on the edge of a depression is a good way to tell. Nice finds.
