I am delighted to see how @Randy Abercrombie ‘s enthusiasm for this new endeavor has really taken off. In just under a month, he has amassed ten of the Twelve Caesars, and now lacks only Julius Caesar and Otho! A great deal of that progress was of course made at the 2025 FUN show, as you’ll have read if you saw my report of our escapades there. I thoroughly enjoyed having him as travel companion and roommate on that trip- for the first but hopefully not last time. Ten of the Twelve Caesars in under a month. That’s a real jackrabbit start! I should counsel him to slow down a bit and savor the search more, maybe. But I find I cannot bring myself to do that, since I myself got really fired up when I started collecting Romans in 2007. By 2008, I had amassed over 110+ different emperors and empresses and my knowledge grew exponentially. It vicariously excites me to see his newfound enthusiasm take off… far better than I could have ever dreamed when I gifted him that Vespasian “bait coin” for Christmas. He sure took the hook! :)
