Most of you are probably already aware of the two printing varieties in the 2006 $20 notes, either from this forum or from Coin World's article a while back. I've put together this page on my website that explains the varieties and summarizes what's currently known about the serial ranges for each. You'll notice, though, that there are still a lot of ranges listed in gray, which means no notes have yet been reported.

That's where y'all come in. It'd be a big help if you could check your 2006 $20's against that list, and let me know if you find any from the unreported ranges. Also, of course, let me know if you find any notes that contradict the listings I've already got--as that page points out, some of the listings are based on pretty thin data, so it's entirely possible that an error or two has gotten by.

Thanks much for any information you can provide!

While I know next to nothing about paper currency, I looked in my wallet and have two 2006 20's.
    Their serial numbers are:
    IB 06970520 E and
    IK 92702529 A

If I'm reading the chart right in the link you posted, I don't see any references to an IK that starts with 9 like mine does. Is there some additional info you'd like on it?

Clueless, but happy to help. :)

That would've been printed at Fort Worth early in the series: the range IK00000001A to IK32000000B includes the entire IK..A block. So I'm afraid your note is no help for present purposes, but thanks for looking--and do let me know if you find a note from one of the serial ranges listed in gray.

OK my son lets me look through lots of money. He has two $20's
    IF71721800D with a face plate of G353 2006 series.
    ID08372028C with a face plate of B374 2006 series.
Now the question is how much will you purchase them from me or is this just a see what has come out so far? Sorry for being so blunt.

Perhaps more to the point...I doubt these'll be worth a premium to anybody. It's looking like something close to half the 2006 $20's from Washington have been printed on the new presses, so they're not remotely scarce.

An exception *might* be the mixed runs printed during the transition...if anybody starts collecting these things by serial groups, those will be where the most interest falls. So far we've found two print runs that contain both old-press and new-press notes, though it's always possible that there are a few more we don't know about yet....

By the way, thanks to everyone who's been reporting notes! One request, though: please include the back plate numbers as well as the face plate numbers. We're still trying to figure out whether or not the faces and backs of the notes are always printed on the same type of press, so the back plate numbers help there....

Also, keep in mind that it's not *only* the new-press notes that are interesting. Some of the serial ranges listed in gray on the table are probably old-press notes, and it'd be nice to have confirmation of those too.

Thanks again for all the help, and keep those reports coming!

Sorry for being so so blunt. I guess I was looking for the new Web Fed One dollar craze that took place about 10 to 15 years ago. I had fun finding about a dozen F/* notes and even found one at the NY Mets game. We found B/L and F/L and so much more. We were at the toll booth and the fare was a dollar. All the toll collectors who understood the concept made money. I just thought this was the next craze. Granted the BEP makes some fun mistakes and we the collecting public can make money on the secondary market. I still would like to be a friendly person on this site.

Those last two are interesting: they're from a mixed run (IL44800001D to IL51200000D), and they've got the lowest sheet numbers yet reported for SOI notes from the run (sheets 104207 and 104204, beating out the previous 111-thousand-something). Still may not be too close to the cutoff point, since the highest reported old-press sheet number is still in the 76-thousand range, but it's progress....

I've updated the page to reflect the reports to date. Notice that a third mixed run has been discovered, IL76800001D to IL83200000D. We could really use more reports of either old-press or SOI notes from that range to identify the cutoff point, so be on the lookout for these especially. Thanks again for all the help!

Very glad to help you out. I don't understand if there is or will be any value in withholding from circulation the notes you mentioned, but if you advise this, I can put them aside. They are still crisp and have no center vertical creases. Otherwise I will release them this holiday season :D
