Please tell me which of these 3 nickel's do you find the most attractive??

    My opinion - attractive toning is nice, I like it as much as anybody does. But toning should be treated as the frosting on the cake, the hot fudge on the ice cream. In other words it is an extra treat, the gravy, not the meat and potatoes.

    The condition of the coin itself is the important thing. Good luster, lack of contact marks, good strike, lack of hairlines - those are the things that really matter, not the toning.

    Put another way if the underlying coin is just average, or a dog, but the coin has attractive toning, then you still have an average coin, or a dog, with pretty clothes on it.

    But when you find that exceptional coin, and it has attractive toning too - then you have something !

    #3, although I did really like #2 better but the mark above Monticello gave #3 the edge imo.
