    It's my understanding that the V shaped U in TRUST on Peace dollars was for 'V'ictory in WW 1.

    I see at least one claim for that online, but I'm pretty sure it was just the classical Roman styling. Same thing on the SLQ (along with 'E PLVRIBVS VNVM'), although of course military matters did factor into both designs.
