it's hard to tell if the lines in the reverse fields are die scratches or hairline scratches on the coin. Also, i can't tell what the luster looks like. It does look like the coin doesn't have a whole lot of marks on it, but I can't grade it from those pics.
Certainly no more than MS-64, and no less than MS-60 Details, cleaned. Better pics needed to see if there is luster. Try to use a white-colored light, and use something to diffuse the light like a paper towel or a plastic milk carton.
That could be what happened. I don't know I bought the coin without a mylar holder. Thanks for your insight.
Hi Mainebill, Thanks for your post. What in the photos makes you think that the coin has been cleaned?
Since I also said it was cleaned, I'll chime in here. The luster is a little more of a sheen than luster. You can see hairlines in the field and across Liberty's cheek in a couple pictures. The cleaning is more subtle than what you see on many coins, but it's there, and TPGs have bounced bigger head-scratchers than this one.
I have two like this but w/o toning. I agree with here: I would have never thought of a paper towel or a plastic milk carton. Thanks for the tech.
