Coin has no date or writing. It appears to be made of silver although I can't say for sure. It's about the size of a quarter. The patterns are very detailed and it almost looks as if it could be a medal of some kind. Can someone help identify this coin for me? Thanks! - Novice coin enthusiast
The overall look is French or Italian, with a modified fleur-de-lis on the reverse. The nose and the head covering make me think of the medieval Medici family, bankers and politicians... That's as far as I can take it - bet Siberian Man knows the rest.
looks an awful lot like a portrait of Dante Alighieri. Reverse looks like arms of Dante's city - Florence Italy.
