Please help ID Turkish or Egyptian coin

    I make the date as 1223/30, which seems to equate to 1836. I think the denomination is 5, but I'm less certain. It looks copper but could be billon. It's about the size of a nickel. With this info you'd think I could ID it but I can't find a match. It has to either be from Turkey or Egypt. Help?

    Looks like an Ottoman coin to me.

    My first impression is a 5 Kuruş of the Ottoman Empire, but the diameter would be 39mm, compared to a U.S. nickel (21.21mm). Here is the Numista link. I believe you are correct in assuming billon.

    Yeah a Google image search said 5 kurus but the diameter is all wrong for that.
