Please Grade This 1845-P Half Dime - With Drapery

    Yet another of those tricky to shoot half dimes. This one with intense multi-colour toning.
    I happen not to agree with the assigned grade, but let's see what you think.

    That's a difficult one to grade from photos. I’d have to say AU-55 as C it appears to have some wear in the high spots. Nice coin to have in any collection. An 1840 with drapery is one with lower mintages.

    ANACS graded this coin EF45. Now, I'm not good at grading above VF, but it does seem to me EF45 is a bit low.
    I've had this coin for about 20 years so its probably an early ANACS slab and conservatively graded?

    Personally I think the coin is better than XF unless it has a ton of hairlines or nearly zero luster. It looks like all the details are sharp. I am having a hard time seeing any wear on the coin.

    Yes without seeing it in hand easily XF/ and probably AU.

    I agree that that’s low, especially after 20 years. If resubmitted I’m sure it would go highly today.

    I think it's easily an AU 50 - AU53.
