this is as 69 and 70 as it gets stainless that might not be the grade on the slab but the grade on the slab is the perfect grade for the owner (me) why? a long conversation that i cant type on here
Nice coin Spock!! Hard to grade without coin in hand. ( luster) My guess would be high end 64 borderline low end 65. Cant tell if there is a weak strike in some of the hair details. Could be Au, to gem mint state. Did I ever say how hard it is to grade gold coins with a picture. I am curious how the number one gold expert , would grade this coin ( Doug) Knowing the quality of coins you have been purchasing for your type set, I would make 65 my final grade. Just wondering how much this set you back? I have put off the Indian series for to long, and now they are out of my price range. At least for high end examples. AWESOME COIN!! CLAW
no Phoenix i dont think he was talking aboutyou or this coin . I wish he was talking about this coina nd you though
There is alot of luster in the coin and the only hint i will give about the coin is that its an easy MS but you are right grading acoin from pics is difficult. Doug cant be bothered with these coins he might lose the mods versus members contest so he is rehearsing his jokes and trying to impress Phoenix
Nobody in particular, just a generalisation. I stopped posting significant stuff because you would be amazed some of the comments that come, quite negative in fact. BTW I will take the tenner whence the rest of you have decided that Spock1 is not a suitable caretaker.
I'm droolin', nice rims, strike looks very good and fields excellent!!! Almost 100 yrs old, i'm going with CH BU MS 69+ Almost 100 yrs old and 442K isn't a true Key Date but that aint bad!!
I thought you were my friend (another one bites the dust) . I hope you and Phoenix get into a big fight now lol j/k
I'm not picking it apart; it's a gorgeous coin. Someone asked why it's not 69 or 70, and others pointed minor imperfections. I assure you I have seen lesser specimens graded MS65 (very spendy coins).
dont you guys need a refree. i refreed a match between clembo and GD and they were both treated fairly ( both of them lost but thats anither story) all you have to do is send me a morgan each before commencing the fight and stainless will be my backkup so send one to him also
why do i get a feeling this thread is not going down the path we want it to last thing i want to do is alienate my friends by putting a coin up. guys this a spock thread we are supposed to enjoy it not get into defending one's opinions
Sigh - spock you answered everything right there - the perfect grade for you. Nothing else matters. So Spock thanks for sharing - I enjoy seeing your coins. I can't wait to see the final grade. You should do this more often with your high quality coins. I am enjoying it. And for everyone else - When I ask for comments I do not always expect positive comments I expect people to post what they see and I might not see in the pictures. Some people come across as harsh, but I do not believe it is intentional. I like seeing what others collect no matter what the grade. And others need help learning so they can improve on their skills - not everybody is an expert. So everybody keep on sharing - it is one of the things I like about this forum.
there is just one problem i retired for the next 3 months so no more coin pics of course i wil post the final grade pics in a couple of days just want to make sure everyone has had a chance to look it over first
So many smiley faces in this post people are bending over backwards to show how nice they are. How can you say we aren't enjoying spock? <--- see another one. And don't you forget I ask to be adopted first. Maybe if I post my new large cents we can distract them from this thread, but I hope not.
Phoenix, Just for information purposes in case you ever have a coin certified and graded! I don't believe that they deduct for Die Cracks, at least minor ones like that one. I could be wrong and if I am, hopefully someone will come along and provide the correct information! Frank
Hmmm - 50k, $20 st gaudens, a few proof shield nickels and to top it off - a for real genuine, not a magicians, 2 headed coin - somplete with mint mark. AND AND dont forget - a for real genuine 1913 liberty nickel(as soon as I buy one and rub off replica). Let see them top this.
Hey man, thanks for the info! I wasn't sure if they would or not, as it being a "defect". One of the few posts I didn't put "but I might be wrong". Lol, I should just copy that, and paste it to every one of my posts. Phoenix
