I bought a new USB microscope on a whim today. We needed a new thermometer and amazon had a same-day delivery on orders over $35. I did a real quick perusal and found one on sale for $20.99 so I figured "why not?". I am very happy with the results. It will take some tweaking to get them sharper but for straight out of the box, these are pretty solid pictures IMO. 1960D 1c RPM-001 1995P 1c DDO-001 1942P 50c DDR-001 (these need work) Part 2 Coming.
Brilliant. What type is it? I got one for just under 100 that appears to be the same tier as yours. I would post photos from it too but they are on the windows partition of my laptop.
It apparently can attach to your phone as well. I'm good with it on my computer: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085XZVFGT/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Very nice! Looks like you got a good deal. I will be going live on Instagram with mine tonight if I have time.
What software are you using? With mine you designate what file (directory) the photos are to go into as you take them.
Mine is plug-and-play. I just opened up the Windows camera and was able to use it from there. All the pictures I took went right into the "Camera Roll" folder. Easy Peasy.
If I have a series of a certain type will designate the file I want them in. Otherwise, like you, they go in to a generic directory.
Yeah I suppose I could do that. Since this was just messing around trying to get a feel for it, into the generic folder they went. I am capable of moving them from there My last USB microscope was purchased in 2013 and was absolute trash from the get go. I'm quite happy with these results.
Those photos are more than adequate for general collecting and posting. You don't need anything better unless you are trying to get a Pulitzer Prize.
Mine has mac and windows software, but it doesn't work on the Mac. My computer is the 2020 MacBook pro, and it is powerful enough that I play video games occasionally and do most of my coin work on Windows. I made sure to get a beefed up laptop. It uses the Celestron Microcapture Software. Otherwise I love it but hate only being able it use it on windows. It means I need to restart my computer each and every time I want to access my coin photos, and use my scope.
Yes, nice photos. I have no idea what this is. I have wasted hundreds of dollars on cameras connected to a computer. As soon as Microsoft modified their software, the camera was useless. One camera cost me over $400. I might as well throw it in the trash. Another problem with them was that built-in lights were useless. They reflected off the slab surface, which kills half the picture. My advice is never buy a camera that is connected to a computer. If there is a microscope camera that is a standalone unit which shots .jpg photos, I am interested. Otherwise forget it.
Here is my $40 set up. You can get an entire Silver Dollar on the desk top monitor and in a photo. The dollar is on the platform under the scope.
