He's in pretty bad shape. I'm thinking some type of planchet/plating error, don't know. There's one on each side of the coin. It doesn't look like it took a hit of any type on the reverse side of each anomaly. Not sure if the last picture will help you. The coin isn't really blue BTW. I was getting a bad reflection off the mirror. Your thoughts?
Not a plnachet error nor a "plating" error (Kennedy Half's have never been plated by the US Mint). What you have here appears to be Post Minting Damage (PMD) which looks like environmental damage of some sort. Bubbles as large as what you see are generally the result of being in a fir. Or so I've been told. I have an IKE with similar damage.
You mean the clad layer They have a clad layer yes.. Plating is something else @cpm9ball show your famous 50c missing clad layer...
