Hello. I am new here. I found these dollar coins from the bank. They have a pinkish color. Five have round rim/edge. Are they chemically damaged or what? Thank you.
Well on 2000-2008 Sacajawea dollars, a round edge is entirely normal; there was nothing placed on the edge. (When Sacajawea dollars were replaced with Native American dollars in 2009, the date, mintmark, "E Pluribus Unum," and stars were placed on the edge). I think all the coins you show in the picture with plain edges, it's entirely normal for them to have a plain edge. The ones that don't are presidential dollars (that had the date, mintmark, "E Pluribus Unum," "In God We Trust" from 2007-2008, and stars on the edge). These coins tend to turn funny colors just due to handling and chemical exposure, usually getting brownish eventually, but some reddish or pinkish toning isn't that unusual.
Hello and welcome to CT. The edge is normal. The color of them is because of their metal content and what they have been exposed to in the environment.
