I have received a physical bitcoin in an inheritance and wondering if it is real and worth a literal bitcoin.
Some had codes for actual bit coins inside them. Yours doesn't appear to be one of those though and is just a novelty like @paddyman98 said.
Novelty coin as mentioned. I bought one for 76¢ a while back, just to see what they look like. The real ones have holograms, yours, nor mine, have that.
Bitcoin is a virtual currency so any physical token is not a bitcoin. A real bitcoin, or fraction, is stored in a software wallet and has one or more addresses associated with it. Search computers or smart phones for a bitcoin app. You will likely need a password to access a bitcoin wallet. The details to retrieve the wallet could also be recorded on paper or in an email. If lost or erased any bitcoin in the wallet is gone forever.
Physical bitcoins are a real thing, mainly produced from 2011 to 2013. Some are quite valuable even AFTER they have been redeemed and have no actual bitcoin on them. The Casascius examples particularly can go for hundreds, some over a thousand in pure collector value. ANACS slabs them. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lealana-20...vip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l44720
