Thanks to speety for permission to use his Barber half for my Photoshop modification. It looks like it's from China, or made by Indians. I'm sure if I had such a piece, I could spend it, but might end up spending 20 years without a radio. Click on image to enlarge. : ) This will be my official entry. : )
I received my VA Medal today : ) I did this with Photoshop. I received my VA medal today and photographed it right away. The even more special part is that I laid out its design on my computer. : ) The medal is the result of a coin design contest held by a VA Regional Office. An employee there, a friend of mine and an illustrator, sketched some designs and asked me to put them on the computer and lay them out as a coin design, so she could submit a professional-looking design. For the reverse she had drawn a sketch with two VA personnel, one also a soldier now on active duty in Iraq, the other a lady veteran who also works at their VARO. My friend Moonshadow, another Conder Token collector and a member of Coin Talk, won the contest. We split a nice cash prize. Later, VA management requested that she revise the center of the reverse design to eliminate the employees, who were recognizable. The obverse remained as submitted. The quote on the reverse was uttered by Abraham Lincoln. It's now part of the VA mission statement. After engraving and striking, and addition of some finishing processes, they presented these medals to recognized employees in a meeting. My friend asked if she might have one for me, and explained why. They gave her this medal for me. Other than those presented to employees that day, it's almost unique I suppose. This Veteran's day will be more special to me than any in the past, and I am a U.S. Navy veteran. NOTES: I feared that the engraver would not be able to place the braided cord so near the edge, but they managed it and I am very happy. They may never tried this before. .
I just found this thread a day or so ago and had to paint my kiddo's face & take him trick or treating tonight, so forgive my thrown together entry. For a better look, please right-click and open in a new tab/window. The file was too large for the site to let me refer from photobucket. ive never used photoshop so i decided to make a futuristic coin. the first one is my entry (based on image quality alone and not my preference of future outcome). the second one is an alternate future. does mexico have state coins, cause i think they would be the first to go. coin 1 (entry cause of better pics) reverse of coin second coin (worse pics) and reverse if i new how to do it i would have made a north america coin with states or provinces. (which i think will be the eventual outcome) with mexico, us and canada governed under one entity. and hey why not, then there would be no borders to cross. all the canadians would move to mexico, and all the mexicans to canada?
