Yeah it does, this was just what i needed to get my feet under me better with coin photography. Now who was it who just showed us their 'photography platform', was it Greg? Now i need to go find that thread
Ok, here's my first two tries... Not sure if it's just showing the "weakness" of my cell phone camera (it's an Samsung S3 so it's got a pretty nice camera, and the only one I have that has macro option), or if my photos are just bad... On the half bust, the photos make it look much more worn than it is... not sure how to fix that.... I'm using two incandescent lamps at 10 and 2....
Nother try with one of my own coins Not too shabby for a cell phone picture, looking forward to finding a new camera so I can become a master photographer
Hey green, quick question I have, can you create more space between the two coins so they arent completely touching?
Yes, add a border to each image when cropping then position next to each other. (Ken is probably busy watching hockey........... LOL)
I just found this thread. Thank you for posting it! This will definately help me a lot. I've been using photoshop since it's my favorite program but they dont really have many settings suited to coins like the round cropping. The one thing i wanted to ask is, how do you always get the coin to be perfectly centerred in your photo so you can make sure it's still round in the outcome? Like, what is the setup you use? I have a tripod and i set it at an angle so my camera is pointing straight down using the bubble meters but even with that and the center square of my camera focus to place the coin, it sometimes comes out at the slightest angle that it makes the coins look almost oval.
See, here's an example of a photo i took (ignore that this coin seems to get mysterious fog) but look at the angling. It may also be that i have it on a folder as a background though. I'll try a round coin on a hardwood floor tonight with that program. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1971-Bahama...315&pid=100015&prg=1006&rk=1&sd=121128837639& By the way, will that program let you crop in this coin's shape?
I don't think so, but I only do certain things over and over with the program, and it seems to do a lot more than I need it to. But you can take your coin and crop it round and get a lot of the border off of it, like this. Probably some other folks who are a lot more computer-savvy than this old man could do something jazzier. Best Regards, :hail: George
good idea with the black there. Now with some cloning in photoshop i could probably get it like the others. Thanks.
Heres one I did without referring back to the tutorial. I think im starting to get the hang of it, just need a better camera and a small set-up for it.
I'm on a mac, and my primary tool for editing and presenting my coin is Preview (the default program that comes with the computer). However, I like the "reflection" effect at the bottom that some of the photos have, but alas Preview has no such feature. Is there an application for a Mac computer that will let me create this effect for my photos? This is my presentation so far...
So, good news and bad news about this "Photoscape" program. Good news is that i love this program and it's helping a ton. Bad news is (and i might just be the odd one out), when downloading the program, it came with four Trojan horse viruses and 2 Pup viruses (funny name, horrible virus.) luckily my dad is a computer repairsman so it was fixed in less than an hour but i hate when that happens.
Which site did you download the file from? There were several links - one of the sites may have a compromised version. Also wondering if it was the site I got my copy from...
I've been watching this thread since it was resurrected, I've used Photoscape on a daily basis for the last year or so. Downloading the program is a challenge, I went directly to photoscape.org and tried several times. Each time I got something along with the program, usually Whitesmoke and some other jump on my search engine, I got new toolbars, search engines and even a new home page if I was not careful. Takes a good half hour or so to clean up your browser after the download and install. I have yet to find a clean simple download of just the program. When you download, be very careful what you agree to, and run a good malware program like Malware Bytes afterwards.
I used the green link on the top and that's the one that gave me a few viruses. And it didn't even work, they tryed giving me Gimp instead and a few viruses. I think it was brothersoft that ended up working. I had to run MalwareBytes and AVG antivirus to get them out and my computers clean now. And i had to remove the Whitesmoke toolbar as well.
