Well in spite of a few scratches, I could not resist this one......came at a competitive price too. Philip III Arrhidaios 323-317 BC....supposedly very rare!!!
hahah, it was just a wild guess, since you buy a ton of stuff on Roma was first logical guess, let's see...ha, this was easy, if not Roma, CNG)) https://www.cngcoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=340029 Very rare, none in Pella database, only two in CoinArchives (portal does not have a complete information, quite a few items are missing)
Well my Ayyubids dinars are from Roma I hope they will prove to be genuine high grade coins and therefore, a good buy!!
I have one. Similar style as OP's. Philip III AR Tetradrachm. ca 323-317 BC, Babylon Mint. Head of Herakles right / ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ, Zeus enthroned left, holding eagle on extended arm and sceptre, M before, B below throne.
Thanks. I think I got all those Tets at a great price actually. If they all grade well, they are worth a lot more in a big and reputable auction. ROMA still does not have the client base as other auction houses IMHO.
Maybe, IMHO, some of those were overpriced...same way as coins on CNG and Heritage... I think highest prices are fetched through CNG (which I don't understand why) and Heritage (here, I guess, you pay for slab top $$$)
Many of the coins offered by Heritage are either unique or very high grade. Also they have an affluent and perhaps vain clientele who want the best and are prepared to pay top dollar for it.
Agreed, but a lot of their coinscome with super high reserve- no interest of mine As far as CNG i dont think they have a higher quality coins than Roma or NAC for instance
