    Hello everybody!
This is my very first post and I only started coin collecting last year, but I can add a Clodius Albinus and a Didius Julianus Sestertius to your conversation.
    Greetings from Germany!

    Welcome @Julius Germanicus .

First, show both sides to your coins. We all want to see. Secondly, if you are buying or selling, you are not allowed in this forum. There is a forum for coins for sale. If you are just looking for value, feel free to ask.

Thanks for the help, Bing - I fixed it :-D
As for the value, I guess one has to invest around 500 USD for a compatible Pertinax, am I right?

Very nice examples @Julius Germanicus ....and WELCOME!!!

For a sestertius I'd say that's probably about right---at hammer anyway--- since this example (not mine) sold for over a grand.

The Year of The Five Beards is one of my favorite side interests. One day I'll redo this set to include denarii of Albinus and Septimius from 193. It's just hard to stop buying Flavians.... Five Beards.jpg

If it is important to you that you have coins of 193, you will have to be more careful on the bottom row. No Albinus as Augustus is that early. Curtis Clay has been fighting for much of his life for recognition of his theory that Albinus died 19 Feb 196 not 197. I believe he is correct and consider it a fine example of how hard it is to correct errors that have so long been part of the official record. His reasoning is summarized here:

Niger, Albinus and Septimius coins of 193 must never show a date of COS II or any IMP number over one. Pertinax COS II coins are 193 (as are all his and Didius' coins).

I'll replace those two before long. I forgot I already have one of Albinus from 193. His beard is a scruffy mess as Caesar. ClodAlbSeated.jpg

Yeah Afghanistan is a bit unstable south of Mazar. It's such an awesome place, I hope one day it will be safer for tourists.

Interesting places to go for a vacation! Or is it work-related?

Purely recreational. It's my other expensive hobby - trying to visit every country in the world. So far I'm up to 70 countries. 130 more to collect.

That's awesome Greg! The Door of Hell I've seen in pictures and looks really cool. I'm around 50 countries, added Fiji to the list when I was traveling back from Down Under in June.

I regret that I have been only to 35+ countries, but with virtually all of them, I have been to them several times, as well as being almost everywhere within each of those countries. Business and some vacationing.

I've been to most of my 70 countries just the once - except for USA, the UK and France where I've been quite a few times. I will return to some of my other favourites eventually!

SIGH....All this talk of 'recreational' travel is making me very jealous. But I have to wait until next Spring to begin my adventures.
