Finally found this 'fleet coinage', it's a attractive Æ 27 Dupondius, but it's pierced and it's not the only fleet coinage in RPC which is pierced, did encounter several pierced fleet coinage on RPC. Difficult to acquire coin type, slighty weak struck at 2 o'clock

    RPC I, 1464

    Pierced or flan flaw?
Did it penetrate to the other side?

The answer is yes Pete, unfortunately did it leave a very ugly hole, right through the part wehre Octavia and Marcus used to be faced towards each other!

Found quit some pierced Fleet coinage, would like to understand why this was done.

Lots of fleet coins are pierced. They were likely rare even then but not so rare that they weren't kmown about so if sympathetic to the cause, one hold on to any found in change
