The you're saying that by building any set of any coin, and promoting people to send you the coins they have been unable to find a use for is a scam? I didn't think so, but I guess I'm ignant. I want to give people a way to get paid for allowing us to buy their coin. If they wanted to sign up for the Pennybids tour, then they could be eligible for some extra monetary return after the coin is sold by me to someone else. If you got a use for your coins then keep them.

My problem was that because of being ignant, I forgot to think about other serious collectors who don't see the value of selling their prized coins to me.

Bah, the nerve of that American scammer!

Y'all can be as rude as you want because I'm learnin' here and don't mind at all. In fact, you should here what the wife calls me most of the time..

    honey, sweetheart, scammer...

I still pertain that as of today, no members. No payout, no action but on this forum..awww, maybe everyone thinks I'm scammin.

But I'm not (a scammer). I like my freedom just fine thank you.

And thank you for having my discussions posted. I feel quite welcome so far. And sorry to the first poster for whatever bother I caused.

Maybe I can include this (real coin talk). I (think) I found a DDR 1902 F12 IHC. First one for me, and it came right out of the bag. The "T" in cent has a small step on the right hand side. I'm going to take a picture this evening and post it up here. I'd like some help with confirming the DDR. Then maybe discuss the value...

From your description (Small step) it sounds more like a strike doubling.
Look to see it it is flat and 'shelf-like' a sure sign of strike doubling.

Pennybids, I commend you for your patience.
A lesser person would have gotten nasty about the situation.

I understand what Pennybids is trying do. Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with it because you are informed of what your getting into before you get into it.

Pennybids is looking to end with the 'perfect' set. You trade or sell what you don't want, for what you do want, and so on and so on.
Pennybids isnt saying "give me your coins". Everyone should wind up with what they want through trade or sell.

Im sure this wont be a quick or easy venture but good luck to you Pennybid

Got to agree with rotobeast on this one Pennybids. You HAVE showed tremendous restraint and class. I have been quite sarcastic myself as I'm sure you've noted.

The idea strikes us as odd/scam as most people here are very capable of selling their own coins.

After all is said and done welcome to the forum! Hope you stay with us!

    Thank you all for listening.

You can be sure that I will continue to post new topics and respond to others.

I still need to take the image of the 1902 "small step" reverse. I will get it up here, and look for another place to post it so we can move ahead with the coin talk.

If anyone would like to contact me, you may post here as I will look daily to keep updated to the input. If you can say anything about Pennybids, is that they sure are online alot.....

    Ha.

OH, C'MON people!?!?! This guy "Pennybids", has a pyramid sceme going on here. And no matter how "nice" he is, the bottom line is that he is a crook. "Pennybids", you'll need to get up pretty early in the morning to pull the wool over the people in this forum. Yinz can send me yer coins too. I'll pick out what I want, then sell the rest of 'em......OK? What a great idea. I'll get my coin sets completed, get some extra money, and I'll say "THANK YOU VERY MUCH". I'm being nice, ain't I? What was it that "Roy" always said.....I have a 10 foot pole that you can borrow." Thanks, but NO THANKS.

    uh, o.k....

If that's what you think, so be it. I'll be sure not to offer you anything in the future as you seem quite adept at seeing through me. Why don't I just keep posting here anyways so you can come back when YOUR dog runs away, and you can give me a kick.

I got four cheeks, take your pick.

Anyways...I still havn't got that 1902 image up of the "small step" off the right hand side of the reverse cent "T". I'm going to use what magnifiers I have to get the image. Maybe tonight.

Update: If the only things people do for me , or to me, is question my integrity, then I'm not worried. If you want to know more about Indian Head Pennies, then we can chat about things we're both interested in. Real conversations are those meetings of equal minds and understanding whom look forward the the encounter.

I never put myself where I don't want to be. I also never challenge the ability of someone to have any idea they want as I believe the creative mind is the only mind not being put to waste.

I posted; and I reread your post about the 10 foot pole and all. I came to the USUAL CONCLUSION: For every ten people who disagree within a small group, there are THOUSANDS of those outside that group who would agree. For every known DISAGREER (a word?), there are many unknown AGREERS (not a word?).

And because those people might agree, that does not make them wrong per your conclusion.

I don't believe that because you have concluded your opinion, I have to interact with people based on your conclusion. I can make whatever I want out of Pennybids. As you have with your opinion.

I'm still clueless to the exact details of your plan...

Am i selling you my Indian heads so you can build a "super-collection"
Or am i giving you my IHCs to build this super collection knowing that you will sell it at completion and split the profits with me

Or are we using you as an intermediary to trade buy and sell IHCs back and forth allowing you to collect the best specimens for your "super collection"?

Can you clarify, because frankly (sorry frank frank n frank), I dont think we are totally cued in to yoru thinking.

    Yes.

I'd like to find people who would at one time or another do all those things you spoke of.

In fact, I want to include everyone who sells me their coins. They can share with me the growth of the coin into the final set by watching the information I post on my blogs, videos, etc.. I'd like to think that I'll make friends through all this who will work with me to build sets that will be sold to acquire higher-grade coins for the "Super" sets you mentioned.

I'm not charging anything for nothing. It really ends up that our friends will be able to sell their coins for a better deal than they could if they went to their local dealer, or Ebay. That's what I think. Because I'll pay more.

And as far as the coins I will sell, I hope to distinguish them in the most realistic way so as our buyers are satisfied they received a good deal.

AND! if everything else fails, CUSTOMER SERVICE.

    Ardatirion Où est mon poisson

    Ahh, I think I understand.

Correct me if I'm wrong: People send you coins and the only return they get is entertainment in watching you build your set on myspace, etc.

Nothing at all wrong with that. I doubt I'd participate myself, but its perfectly acceptable. (even somewhat intruiging). But be careful, in the original layout of the advertisement, you seemed to imply that participants would recieve some sort of monetary return.

Also, I apologize for the attitudes of some people around here. Even if you are a scammer, liar, and cheat, we can still be nice! Lol.

    Yes, that too.

By negogiating and communicating with us, people who are interested in collecting Indian Head Cents can participate in anyway they find acceptable. Again, I do nothing more than buy and sell coins to build sets which more often than not are sold on Ebay, or through our advertisments. We have hundreds of incoming email from people who collect or are interested in the collection of coins and money. I allow those folks who care to spend time with the Indian Head Cents a varied amount of ways to participate. I'll co-build sets with people, I'll allow members to build sets with member coins only. I'll buy coins, I'll sell coins. I'll allow folks who offer us the ability to purchase their coins at a fair value price, to receive up to double the original sale price for participating in our set building ventures. If we are successful, then people can earn EXTRA. If we are unable to collect the coins in sets that appreciate in value when combined, then the folks have already received original payment for the coins.

This is intended to offer new ways for new and old collectors to get more value in the form of content and community.

I offer the first 25 Indian Head Penny owners this proposition:

Allow me to purchase a AG-VG 1870's coin at a fair value per grade and date. I will find and disclose the most recent purchase prices from Ebay on all coins offered. Then, I will use these coins to generate the CoinTalk set. The CoinTalk set will be created, and sold, and created again in a higher grade, then sold again. In 12 months time, I will sell the set, retain the original investment(s) made by me, and split the profits back to the CoinTalk sellers. The CoinTalk "sellers' will have not given anything for nothing as they will be paid for the coins they introduce. Though this process may not build the "super set", it will deliver an ability to purchase a coin or two for that set. At the same time, you can be sure that the original CoinTalk "sellers" will be checking into the CoinTalk set blog waiting for me to "underdeliver".

Now let's get back to the ass whoopin. Who's on first?

If I give you a Indian head cent will you go away? Sorry, but this is just absurd! :headbang: Stick to talking to Craiglist idiots who don't mind bad grammer, run ons and babble...

    So you say:

    Yet then you say:

So if you just sell them on ebay, how do you plan to get a better price than if they had sold it on ebay themselves? Through the usual means of overgrading, wrong attribution and trying to sell strike doubles as real DDO's I assume??? So again... If I give you a Indian head cent will you go away?

What a waste of time and energy:yawn:

pennybids I think the problem here is that you're dealing with real collectors, who cherish and value their old coins. through craigslist etc you may find some people...non-collectors who have old coins that they'll give you, but it's not likely that you'll be getting a lot of coins. the idea of just giving someone our coins is horrifying.
should you decide to become a more conventional collector and buy/sell coins for yourself, I'm sure you'll find a happy home here...this forum is full of good people that are happy to share info regarding numismatics.

As tradernick said, we are collectors, who cherish our collections.
We (generally) are not in it for a quick buck.
Also, realize that we see a lot of hucksters out there, see HSN.
So, we are very wary of anything that is .... well, like what you described.
