Well that is kindof hard to say without any photos.....could you post photos? It could be a damaged coin---or it could be an error---or it could be a blank planchet. The Blank Planchet is what I'm leaning to---and that is what it sounds like from your post---it would be worth about $1-$2. Speedy
How cool would it be to find a penny that was a perfect strike but all the lettering and the year were gone due to some freak mint error or planchet problem.
I think he means he has a blank planchet, at least thats what I read into the question. Interesting to know if it is a type I or II
A type 2 has gone through the upsetting machine so there is a rim on the blank...most planchets people find at TY2. Speedy
There is a good chance but it would also be "rarer" (Still not worth over a few dollars)----post a photo and maybe we can tell what it is. Sometimes the rim is hard to see. Speedy
First, welcome to the neighborhood! You do realize that this thread is almost 11 years old don't you? A blank is one that has been cut from the sheet of metal but has not gone through the upsetting mill, and a planchet is one that has gone through the upsetting mill and has an upturned rim. You say that your coin has no rim which would ordinarily make it a blank, but without photos, it's impossible for anyone to know for sure. Can you post photos? Chris
Well thank you and i figured someone might know lol This is my first time ever seeing one And yes i can post a picture hopefully
