Nice analysis, Spark. Hadn't thought of 'snake shot' and half-loaded shotshells. I like my dartboard scenario better, though... fewer details to consider. Occam's razor , and all that.
I agree with you everybody on here doesn't respect you like the rule says, you should get kicked out because of what a snot you guys are.
Some people are nice and helpful and I appreciate it but when you tear people down it isn't very helpful
In the nicest possible way I ask you to answer 2 questions: 1. Would you have posted the pic of this coin? and 2. What solution have you offered for Ricardo's ambiguous question: "Any Help?". Be honest. I respect Ricardo's right to use the word "hatred" but he is wrong. And you are wrong to agree that it was "hatred". What he received is termed "ridicule". Personally, I prefer constructive criticism. But some members are offended by posts of these type coins and when it happens the OP opens themselves to ridicule and criticism. Ricardo should have asked a better question, like "Hey! Look at this crappy coin I found! Any idea how it might have happened?". Spark
Just so I have this straight, you thought it was a good idea to jump into this thread for the sole purpose of attacking others while complaining about their supposedly less than friendly behavior? Not only that, but you also feel the so-called "snots" not showing "respect" should be "kicked out", right? May I ask of this applies to you as well, or is this a "do as I say and not as I do" sort of thing?
This seems to be a common thread this weekend for posts dealing with Lincoln cents. In addition, the ones who were attacking people for not being respectful seem to be younger members. I didn't read any comments that I would deem not respectful or personally attacking anyone. Some times the comment go off thread and people try to have fun with it. All I can say is either ignore it, go with it, or move on.
I wasn't personally bothered or offended, WX, but was simply hoping this young fellow would take a moment to actually think.
I did and I will apologize for it, but I might put this coin on if I were him, but it isn't nice to put others down.
No apologies needed here. The biggest thing to remember is that whatever you post or comment on you are going to usually get a wide variety of comments and don't take anything personally. The most important thing to do when posting a question is to do a little homework first, if possible. I think some of us are guilty at one time or another of making a "politically incorrect" comment which is usually a follow-up to one some one else's comment and is by no means meant as a personal insult towards anyone in particular. Through all of this, I think I've found CT useful to me and I hope it will for you.
How about a separate thread for when the 'coin knowledge' aspect of the posts goes way off track and starts becoming arguments about the rights and wrongs of behaviour? The OP asked a question, albeit poorly, about a truly awful coin that had piqued his curiosity, and in short order this entire thread became about who was disrespecting whom and behaving badly. The original post became entirely lost and almost irrelevant in the process. I'm not impressed.
I don't see where he said you're in the clear, especially considering what you're here complaining about. Yet "it's fine" for the little snot to do just that. Hey, by your definition I'm not personally disrespecting you....
In retrospect, I would have thought CT members would know not to post such a coin, no matter what their experience, but I understand it could happen with coins on the borderline. This was not borderline. Perhaps an apology is in order from the OP for creating the firestorm...we haven't heard from him since his "hatred" remark. Going forward, help to posts of this type will be minimal.
