Penny only weighs 1.3 g

    I recently found this and thought it was interesting. was this penny struck on the wrong planchete?

    No. It probably received an acid bath.

    Correct. Corrosion due to Acid.
    Not a Mint Error.
    I have also found Copper Cents with errosion in rivers while metal detecting. The tumbling in the rocks and sand will wear it down over the years.

    Acid environment. The design will dissolve evenly in acid, so the design will stay there no matter the thinness, but tumbled or corrosion will lose the design much sooner.
