Interesting coin scam reported in the local paper today. You would think the bank tellers would know better.... http://www.patriotledger.com/news/x837708572/Police-seek-man-for-defrauding-Easton-banks-Brockton-coffee-shop-in-coin-con-scheme EASTON — Bankers beware. An unidentified man has recently been tricking tellers at area banks into exchanging rolls of pennies disguised in sleeves intended for dimes for paper currency. The penny rolls are supposed to be worth 50 cents, but the suspect used 50-coin dime sleeves with an indicated value of $5. Police said the man allegedly defrauded Mansfield Bank in Easton at 73 Belmont St. using this method on April 26. Easton police said in an entry on Mass Most Wanted, a law enforcement website, that in total the suspect has “hit three Easton banks and a Dunkin Donuts in Brockton.” A surveillance picture of the subject was published on Mass Most Wanted. The photo shows a white male with a thin build, approximately 6 feet tall, with dark colored hair that is graying on the sides. Easton police described the man as being in his 30s. Easton police have not filed a criminal application against the suspect, but said they have already identified him. “We haven’t submitted complaints,” said Detective Leonard Coe, who is investigating the case. “We have identified him, but have been caught up in other things in Easton. This has been put on hold.” Coe said he doesn’t want to release any more information until a criminal complaint is submitted. Richard
