I find change everyday while sweeping at the local high school. Saw the reverse of this one and thought it was a proof. Untill I turned it over. It's got a few scratches but the reflection depth is still a couple of inches.
Considering it was found where alot of people walk, the thumb print is the least of its worries. Lol I just hadn't seen a 2017 as proof like. I'll have to watch for others.
Weren't 2017 proofs only "S" San Francisco mint anyways ?? many new cents have a very nice reflective-like surface. I see them all the time. https://www.usacoinbook.com/coins/6038/small-cents/lincoln-shield-cent/2017-S/ 2017 S Lincoln Shield Cent (Penny) were struck only as Proof coins.
The floor sweeper never found a penny on the floor of my high school. They were actually worth something in the 50's.
My first day at the hs, found 85cents, 3 quarters and a dime in the hall. Kids today just don't care about change. Lol
2017 Proofs still available, although in sets. ==> https://catalog.usmint.gov/proof-set-2017-17RG.html?cgid=2017-product-schedule ==>https://catalog.usmint.gov/silver-proof-set-2017-17RH.html?cgid=2017-product-schedule
When I was biking to and from work, I noticed that the coins on the road at intersections were more often nickels or dimes than cents. I figured people were trying to give change to panhandlers. People will take the risk to pick up paper money from a road, but not change.
Change today isn't worth much of anything. That 85 cents that wingnut found would have had the equivalent purchasing power when I was a kid that would require about $12 today.
