Very nice coin. I have been unable to get a good download even using a highspeed interface. Only thing I have been able to see that would detract from this coin is the scratch on the forehead of the obverse. Depending on its severity would have a direct effect on the grade. Based upon what I can see this coin should be at least a MS-63.
Nice , great strike , I'm not saying it was dipped but if it was it was done well , the luster is great , nice buy , was that a Stacks Coin ? rzage
Yeah - there is no way to photograph that at all. Only a moving picture can demonstrate the diffraction of the light from the surface. And it is a very bright coin. Ruben
I'm putting out data so I don't know It seems to be mighy popular at this point as well. Maybe give it another whirl. download it first and then play it. Yah - see - you missed the real scratch, the one on the reverse. So did I. Ruben
It was a stacks coin...very over priced if it s a MS 63 but it is supstantially and obviously better than a dozen or so other MS grade Peace dollars. Look at the curl on the side of the hair...fantastic. Ruben
nice coin. I have a 1926 just like it. Beautiful coin at the shop tons of luster get it home and I notice the same scatch as yours but parallel to the eagle's tail feathers.
You lose it when you look at it, not only because of the brightness of the coin but also because the scratch follows the lines of the rays in the design, fooling the eye. Ruben
Ruben I can see at least 4, if not 5 scratches on the obverse. Yeah the one on the reverse is a bad one, but so is the one in the hair. In all honesty the coin is body bag material. I would return it if I were you.
What do you think is the chances of Stacks taking a return of a raw coin? It's hard to believe this is a body bag coin. The scratches are the reason for the body bag? There is one on the neck, and the one on the reverse. I don't see anything else in the hair or the face. There are some very light surface scratches on the obverse which aren't even visible without the glass. I just hate to bring this thing back to them. The place aint that friendly to begin with. And I liked the coin. But if it isn't gradeble then I have to consider bringing it back. Do you know anyone in the city who you trust who I can take it to who can look at it in the hand in order to get an opinion? In the hand this coin looks Gem Quality, better than any other I have in the collection. Ruben
I think they'll take it back, but you need to do it before long. If you have a problem let me know privately and I'll give you Dave Bowers email.
very interesting. They don't look that big from their store front... I'll tell you, they can learn something from SaX Fifth Avenue When I go there they treat me like a King Ruben
