just kidding,:smile maybe I'm too tired to post. I'd like to know more about his story. What part of the country did this estate auction happen?
I'm implressed because I also thought none ever existed and that it was all rumor. When a coin like this comes up, how can they authenticate it? How can they really know it is truly a government issue? Ruben
No offense to the guy who said he saw one. But I think that would have been news. Big news. And he is being quite vague about when. Come clean buddy. ''Ve have vays of making you talk''.
Ive been having a hard time finding a relatively mark/bag free 28-S and 35-S. There are a lot of slabbed MS coins out there, but few true premium coins. Id buy them if you can find them.
Yes. He said a few years back. I have read newspaper since I was quite young. and almost 30 years collecting coins. I would remember that if it was a story printed or on TV. If by a few years back he meant 1965 or '66, then I woudnt remember.
Somehow I have a difficult time believing that is real, especially since NGC does not have it listed in their population report. If they really did grade something like that you know they would plaster it everywhere they could. It would be amazing PR. In fact, you should probably take the pic down. I doubt NGC would like their holder used for trickery.
Of course it's not real. It's one of dozens of spoof images created about this coin. That being said, there have been reports by knowledgeable and respected people since the mid '60s that these coins do exist and are held in private collections. I myself know of 2 people that I do not doubt who report having actually held one of these coins in their hand.
This was not an auction. Many silver coins and some art was sold. Look up the thread I started asking if it was ok to own one, & what would happen if it wasnt.
